Our Mission
The Coney Island Anti-Violence Collaborative seeks to reduce incidents of violence in Coney Island by strengthening community relationships, developing community-based structures for preventing and addressing conflict, and working with local organizations and groups to expand supportive services oriented toward reducing violence.
Who We Are
The Coney Island Anti-Violence Collaborative (CIAVC) is a coalition of Coney Island residents, non-profit organizations, businesses, schools, elected officials, and other stakeholders who have come together to address the issue of gun violence in our community.
What We Do
The Collaborative affects the cycle of violence on a community scale. Our purpose is twofold:
-
Explain and discover the implicit and explicit role violence has played in the lives of Coney Island residents and
-
Provide alternate ways of thinking about violence to promote a shift in perspective.
